~ Darling Dresses ~

I posted about my shoes on my http://www.modcloth.com/ wishlist, so I figured I would share some more of it with you. This particular portion will be all the Winter dresses I've added to my list. Once again, your opinions are most welcome.

First we have the "Academy Days Dress in Grey". I think it's a great dress but I already have 2 gray Winter dresses and I'm not sure if I want to spend $69.99 on another, although it is extremely cute.

Next, we have the "Gazing At Giza Dress". I am SO IN LOVE with this dress. I think it's perfect in every way......on the little wooden person. Not sure if it would look good on me with my hips that are unproportional to my body. I'm scared it would be skin tight and look awkward. I don't know though, I'm still deciding.

Up next is the "Snug As A Pug Sweater Dress". I, once again, think it's super cute on the little wooden person but I can already tell that it would definitely be very tight on my hippies. I like to look at it though and wish I could wear it and imagine it looking really good on other people.

This dress is called the "Swiss Mix Sweater Dress" and I SO almost bought it dress until I decided, once again, it would make my hips look big. However, I think I may order it anyways and stretch it out until it fits properly. It's just too cute to pass up. It also has a cute little fabric belt that you may not be able to see in this picture, so that would help to accentuate the waistline.

Last, but certainly not least, is my most favorite dress. It's called the "Too Cozy To Be True Dress". I would buy it right now except for that it's out of stock. I think it's the most precious dress ever made and I honestly do not care if anyone thinks it's cute, which it obviously is or it wouldn't be sold out. As soon as it comes back in stock, I'm all over it. Remember coveting is a sin so pray a prayer for strength before you set your eyes upon this dress. Once again, this is from http://www.modcloth.com/ , just in case you wanted to click fast and go buy it for yourself. We could be twinkies :)

Hope you enjoyed my Winter dress wishlist and I would now like to take the opportunity to encourage you all to make one of your own. It will completely transform your life, I promise :).

Grateful Decorations

Today, Matt's mommy graciously bought us Thanksgiving decorations. I've been mearning to do it but I have many things on my mind and buying decorations is not one of the things that are at the forefront. We plan on going ALL OUT for Christmas and started planning how we are going to decorate today, but for Thanksgiving it will be a little less. I hope to get a few more things but for now I took pictures of our cute little decorations and hopefully I'll have more pictures to add later. I think every house should at least have a Fall wreath on the door, which we do not, but hopefully I can remember to purchase one.

That's a gourd, pumpkin, and a another gourd.

Left: a cute little pot of Fall flowers.
Right: Our candlesticks with little pumpkin baskets on top.

Chili ~ Chili ~ Chili

My church was having a fundraiser and a lot of people were asked to bring chili. I figured that since it was a youth fundraiser and I'm the Youth Pastor's Wife I should probably be one of the people to bring chili, so I volunteered myself. Later on that day, I had one of those lightbulb moments (aren't those great??) and I realized, oh yea Katie, you've never made chili before and you have no idea how to do it either. So of course, in my panic, I called my mommy. She told me to just go and get one of those chili seasoning packets from WalMart and follow the directions and everything would be fine. That's exactly what I did, except the chili turned out much, much better than I ever expected. Not to toot my own little horn, but, my pot of chili was the first pot to be completely eaten. I was overjoyed :). So now I will share my little recipe with all of you.

Ingredients (not real sure on the ounces of the cans, just read the back of the chili seasoning packet):
-2 lbs. ground hamburger meat
- 2 normal size cans pinto beans
- 2 normal size cans diced tomatoes
- 2 little skinny cans of tomato juice
- 2 chili seasoning packets

First, I browned my hamburger meat. I had only browned hamburger meat one other time previous to this one so I browned one pound at a time :). However, this ended up being an excellent plan which I will explain later. After my hamburger meat was browned, I put in lots of seasoning. This includes: Cavender's Greek Seasoning, Garlic Pepper, Garlic Salt, Pepper, Salt, and Minced Onions that you can find over by all the other seasonings. This makes a huge difference in the amazing flavor of the meat. Next, I got a paper plate and put two papers towels over it and poured my browned and seasoned meat onto the paper towel. I let it cool and little and then picked up each end of the paper towel to where there was a little pouch of meat. I squeezed the paper towel against the meat to get all the grease off of it because to me, there is nothing worse than greasy hamburger meat in my chili...ew. Brown the other pound of meat, season it, squeeze the grease off of it, and put it to the side.

Second, I got my pot and poured in my two cans of pinto beans and two cans of diced tomatoes. I added the hamburger meat and chili seasoning packets and it was at this point I realized my chili wasn't juicy enough so I poured in the two little skinny cans of tomato juice into the pot as well. Since you seasoned your meat so well, it's really not necessary to season the entire pot of chili. You let all of this boil for about 10 minutes and then serve it. CAUTION: IT WILL BE HOT BUT DELICIOUS!!!

Here's the beautiful finished product:

Hope you enjoy!!!

Spectacular Footwear

I have found a website that I am completely in love with (yes, I know you aren't supposed to end sentences with prepositions). It's called http://www.modcloth.com/ and I highly suggest you go check it out. It's amazing! I get on there everyday and look through the clothes and shoes and just wish I had tons of money so I could buy everything I wanted. Instead, I have just formed a wishlist and it kind of makes me feel like I have the everything I want even though I don't. So now, since I know you all are going to immediately go check out this super awesome place and form wishlists of your own, I have decided to share some of my never-ending wishlist with you. Since my wishlist is forever long, I'll just make this blog about shoes.

First, we'll start with the "Sandstone Heel". I love this shoe. It even zips up the back. Who wouldn't want a shoe that zips up the back? It also is a great neutral color and I wholeheartedly feel that every female should have a good neutral colored shoe. I couldn't handle it and so I bought it today :)

Secondly, we have the "Amber Wedge". It's kind of a weird color, but I'm pretty sure that this weird, honey mustard color is in style and I have lots of outfits it will go with. However, the only problem with this particular shoe is that it is $144.99. No, that is not a mess up in my typing. I did say $144.99 which is an outrageous amount (in my opinion) for one pair of shoes. So, this is one of those things that I'll keep on my wishlist and just look at periodically.

Next up we have the "Sweet Lady Jane Boot." This shoe is not nearly as expensive as the previous but it's $49.99 which is still a lot of money for me to spend on shoes...at least on one pair. Also, I really can't decide if I would look good with this shoe on. I'm not sure I have many outfits to wear it with and when I buy shoes I have to have 5 or more outfits in my head that the particular pair of shoes will go with or I don't buy the shoes. If not, then they just sit in my closet and not only collect dust, but take up valuable space that could be filled with shoes I wear with lots of things. I'm not sure if this is a good shoe-buying philosophy to go by but it's the one my mom taught me and mom's are normally right, especially about fashion. The way I see it, you have two options: don't buy the shoes or get more clothes so you have more outfits for the shoes to match. Anyways, it's still a super cute shoe that I will just look at for now.
Those are all the shoes I've found so far that I like but in the process of looking for appealing shoes, there are quite a few shoes that make me stop and just wonder what the designer was thinking. I'll share some of those with you now.

Kitty

As it says in my profile, Matt and I don't have any kids because we're holding off at least until I get out of college. In the meantime, we adopted a little kitten. Kitten came to us via small child from the neighborhood. I returned the kitten to the small child but the next day, kitten was at my door. I could hold him in the palm of my hand and see his little ribs poking through so of course, having such a huge heart for animals and small things in general, I brought him inside, gave him warm milk and tuna fish and needless to say, three months later, kitten (now kitty) is currently sleeping on my lap as I type this. His name changes everyday but it has ranged from Frisky to Tiger to Jaws to Pumpkin to now Kitten. He is the most unusual cat you will ever meet and I will now form a list of things that makes him so unique:

1. He loves to stand directly under the water in the shower.
2. He wants to swim in the toilet.
3. He loves riding in the car.
4. He prefers lettuce over chicken.
5. He plays fetch, but only with Matt.
6. He bites, all.....the....time....even in his sleep.
7. He loves to look at himself in the mirror.
8. He also has a love for watching television.

These are just some of the unique qualities of my precious little kitten and I am excited that Matt has agreed to let me keep him so I can find out even more cute little things that he does.

First Time For Everything

I never thought I would be a blogger, but many have inspired me to try it so here I am. I'm still trying to work out all the kinks so be patient with me as I learn how to operate this thing. I've never really had a way with words so I hope you don't read this expecting to be shocked and amazed by my articulate nature. I also should warn you that I don't have the most eventful life, although it is extremely busy, so my posts may not be very interesting to you. However, it's my life and I love it. I hope you enjoy :).
